The Healing Arts Center brings together a group of clinically experienced practitioners and teachers to help you on your journey to a healthier life. Many of our clinicians have been practicing for over 15 years. The strength of our center lies in the integration of traditional physicians with complementary and alternative medicine practitioners.

Barry

Barry L. Silverman, D.C. - Chiropractic

Dr. Barry Silverman is a chiropractor with over nineteen years of experience. His practice is varied and includes acute and chronic care, personal injury, workers compensation, children, and the elderly. Borrowing from eastern and western healing modalities, Dr. Silverman utilizes various methods of chiropractic manipulation, CranioSacral Therapy, Active Release Technique, Chinese massage therapy, herbs, clinical nutrition, and exercise rehabilitation to affect the healing process. Dr. Silverman received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Temple University and the New School for Social Research, and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic.

Steve

Steven Mavros, L.Ac. - Acupuncture

Mr. Mavros is practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, encompassing both Chinese and Japanese styles of Acupuncture, Chinese herbs and tui-na massage. Along with his specialty of treating infertility, he treats many internal disorders including: chronic fatigue, stress reduction and emotional symptoms such as depression and anxiety. He also treats musculo-skeletal conditions and pain syndromes. Mr. Mavros received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. His training in Acupuncture began at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, and was completed with a Masters in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine at the New England School of Acupuncture.

Jerry

Jerrold Friedman, M.D. - Physiatry

Dr. Friedman is a physician, rehabilitative medicine specialist, and acupuncturist. He maintains a practice specializing in musculo-skeletal injuries and pain management. His focus is on exercise prescription and sports medicine. In addition to mainstream Western medicine, Dr. Friedman's methodology incorporates manual medicine and acupuncture techniques that enhance body movement. Dr. Friedman received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and his doctorate in medicine from SUNY Syracuse. He did his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Elliot

Elliot Diamond, DPM, OMD - Podiatry

Dr. Diamond, with over 26 years experience in podiatry, specializes in podiatric pain management, sports medicine and Acupuncture. He is one of the company doctors for the PA Ballet and is Best of Philly for treating ankle injuries.

Steve R.

Steven Rosenzweig, MD - Integrative Medicine

Steven Rosenzweig, MD has practiced Integrative Medicine in Philadelphia for over 10 years. He is past Founding Medical and Academic Director of the Thomas Jefferson University Center of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Rosenzweig is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He extended his medical training through the study of Anthroposophical Medicine, a European-based system of Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Rosenzweig participated in professional training with Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center (UMMC), and has completed the Teacher Development Intensive in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction offered at the Stress Reduction Clinic at UMMC. He also completed Level 2Training of the Academy for Guided Imagery.

Dr. Rosenzweig is an Associate Professor at Jefferson Medical College where he teaches integrative and mind-body medicine. He also teaches clinical skills at Drexel University School of Medicine.

Kelly

Kelly Smith - Yoga

Kelly Smith, was recognized twice in 2005 by Philadelphia Magazine as one of the best in the city for both Yoga and Pilates instruction. Her initial training under Stafani Pappas in the Devalila School influenced her teaching style as a compassionate and authentic instructor. Her method of teaching healing movement is informed by 18 years of studying and teaching various styles of dance. Kelly recently began studying Indian Ayurveda after being inspired by Sri Swamini Mayatitananda, the Spiritual Leader of The Wise Earth School of Ayurveda. Kelly holds a B.A. in psychology from Villanova University and will begin course work toward her Master's Degree in Kinesiology at Temple University this summer. Kelly's dedication to continually learning and teaching the tradition of yoga is apparent in her energetic style of teaching which incorporates yoga philosophy and knowledge of the physical and subtle body to offer students a deep understanding of yoga on many levels.

Sheri

Sheri McLellan, L.Ac. - Acupuncturist

Sheri's career as an Acupuncturist began in Asia where she lived for three years. Having worked and studied in both Japan and Thailand, Sheri learned how effective Eastern medicine could be in the treatment and prevention of disease. Upon her return, she enrolled in the New England School of Acupuncture and completed a four-year Master’s degree. She holds a National Board Certification in Acupuncture from the NCCAOM and licensed to practice in the states of Massachusetts, New Jersey and Philadelphia. She is currently on staff at the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Southern New Jersey where she treats a variety of conditions, including pain management, allergies, immune system disorders and women’s health issues. She practices both Traditional Chinese style acupuncture and the gentler, Japanese-style. She has special training in Cosmetic Acupuncture.

Nina

Nina Hermann, C.B.T. - Massage Therapy

Nina has over eighteen years experience in therapeutic bodywork. Her massage techniques include deep muscle therapy, and reflexology. Intuitive and nurturing, Nina treats most musculo-skeletal and chronic pain, as well as various organic conditions. Nina attended the New York School of Shiatsu and Reflexology and privately studied deep muscle therapy. She is a certified member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Practitioners.

Patty

Patty Latimer, C.M.T. - Massage Therapy

Pat Latimer is a 1993 graduate of the Ariel Center for the Healing Arts in Newtown, PA and is certified in therapeutic massage and St. John Neuromuscular Therapy. She has over 14 years experience in private practice in Northeast Philadelphia in addition to her current duties as the primary massage therapist at a chiropractic center in Bensalem, where she has been responsible for training and supervising 3 other massage therapists. Pat recently moved her private practice to Olde City and is available at the Healing Arts Center of Philadelphia on Wednesdays and Fridays.
